dio-nice-ass - Taipei Arts Festival - 9/30/06

Hey there,

plenty of other pics of the dionysus tour at the bottom of me website... not sure how interesting if you weren't there though, butt you should check out the one i want for my new headshot...

so i'm like writing this entry a bit post-mortem. i thought that i could wait a week or two and take everything in and then gather my thoughts and then give you the highlights. the one thing i kinda overlooked is that i don't have this thing called a memory... butt here goes!

apologize for the arid writing, butt i can't come up with anything funny beans lately. i was trying to wait until i was like a little funnier, butt if i wait any longer i'll forget i even took this trip.

so we arrived after the 18 hour flight in time for breakfast tuesday morning at the hotel. a nice spread of congee and white floating sausages awaited our voracious apetites. i didn't care. if you all know what a cheap bastard i am, you know what my favorite food is- free food.

butt on a high note. upong chomping down upon the rubbery white sausage we were informed that ellen stewart - my hero, director, mother, is going to be the recipient for the tony award for theater excellence. Dunno wher you come from, butt that's mighty big news in these parts..

dayum. okay already not digestible enough to talk about the whole experience, butt we get there, chris and i get assigned roomates which is great because i love chris, because everybody loves chris, because chris wild is damn near the perfect human being. our hotel was a bit moldy butt i don't mind this stuff... our bathroom window opened up to a creepy moratorium butt hey, they had free wireless....

we then had to go to rehearsal and we saw the space. a huge gymnasium of some university i think. spent most of the day assembling the tables and goofing off. we had dinner at the shing ling night market and browsed around at some of the stuff which was great to walk around in butt nothing really for me.

next day we got to check out the national something museum, and then we had rehearsal and then chris, peter and kazuma and i went to the hot springs where we saw kazuma soap his ass for about 7 hours before getting into the hot soak. then friday we pretty much had to rehearse and get ready for opening night. really wasn't sure how it was going to go which is always how i feel on ellen's opening night shows, butt we actually killed it. the energy and what do you call that stuff... adrenaline were all on fire and everyone just nailed their parts. ellen summed it up by saying it was the best dionysus ever, i wasn't there in the 80s but it was the third production for me and it was easily true.

peter and i walked out to get some glory and frighteningly and ridiculously enough we got it. more peter than i, got mobbed by a group of like 18 teenagers (they're asians so they could have been 40) saying how strong and handsome we were. like i said they were more after peter than me which made me wonder if they were retarded...

kidding peter butt!

anushow, they also asked for pictures and autographs. i looked up and thought i saw rob looking at us and i was sooo embarrassed i just scribbled p on the paper and tried to run away and they actually started running too screaming "we love you!"

ashamed to admit that may have been the best four seconds of my life.

that night we went to the taipei club called luxy where kazuma made best friends with a group of south african dudes. aziza, kat, valois, peter, kazuma, and taffy had our fun and capped it off a yoshinoya...

next day was saturday and i have no idea what i did that day. performance that night was slopppy at best. oh yeah! i remember. i went to the jade market where i got jaded... got a nice charm bracelet and a necklace there. butt it wasn't that cheap at all.

i'm getting tired now. wish i had beetlenut butt it actually had no effect on me. this is a stimulant that many locals chewed on to get amped up and supposedly it is handed out by prostitues like maybe the girl in the movie in taipei which is supposed to have the highest number of hookers per capita, although i didn't see that side at all. *sigh* probably best for my penis that i avoided that although that girl in the moobie is purdy... hm.

the last day sunday since we couldn't extend our trip so i may need to come back to this beautiful country with beautiful people... the last day peter, chris and i went to the buddhist temple, the national arts thing center, and had tea at the huge hotel.

then we thanked our crazy lovely hosts, the staff and crew we owe eternal thanks for being such beautiful people and for being so helpful and for me the entire entourage on the trip made it extremely lovely. i really love my theater family at la mama. i really really love you guys and travelling around the world with you guys doing what i love to do most is the best thing i could ever ask for.

oh yeah... the bus rides were fun and hyun-yup rocked it as dionysus. he did great and he is wonderful...
